Can podman-remote be deleted?

I found binaries like /usr/libexec/podman/quadlet, /usr/libexec/podman/rootlessport, /usr/bin/podman-remote are installed , not sure if they are useless , thanks .

You can go deleting anything on your router you think isn’t useful I guess?

But why would you want to fiddle on the root filesystem of your router?

I would not at all recommend deleting anything from your router not under /config pretty much. You might think you don’t need it now and in 3 months go to enable a feature only for it to break, or the file is checked for existance on startup and a reboot disables the router.

If you have found packages (dpkg -l) that you’re sure don’t need to be part of the router, you’d be much better off logging a bug report about it, rather than just deleting stuff.

Hope this helps.

I just want to build the ISO and try to make it as small as possible . hmm ,I think not all the binaries below to package podman are useful ,but not sure ,so ask some confirmation /suggestion.

VyOS just uses the standard packages usually, so if you wanted to change this you’d have to provide your own podman .deb to the build process. I think you’ll quickly find the overhead effort of doing this for lots of Debian packages vs the small amount of disc space you’ll save (remember it’s a squashfs filesystem in the end) isn’t worth it.
