The recent “rewrite of system image tools” dropped functionality that was very useful to me for testing images. Previously install image in a live boot would scan existing partitions for valid config directory and SSH credentials and would prompt to copy them to the new install before wiping the disk. With the rewrite, all that is gone. This was useful to me on my lab setup where I didn’t have to rebuild the instance from scratch every time I test a new image. I will now have to mount a separate partition that contains the pre-built configs and copy them manually every time I re-image. This is unfortunate.
