I can share my experiences with the AMI othe AWS Markplace. Something seems to break with SSH keys in the 1.8 to 1.2RCx upgrade. I could no longer access the EC2 instance. I can upgrade successfully from 1.2RCx to another 1.2RCx.

I have done the upgrade from 1.1.8 to 1.2.0-RC10 without any issues.
SSH Keys still working and the DHCP config where the syntax have changed got translated to the new syntax.
