Change nic speed?

Hi,

if my nic is 10G SPF+ port but remote switch or server is 1G SPF only,
can i manually change my port speed to 1G from vyos ?

Yes, you could manually change it with

set interfaces ethernet <interface> speed 1000

Hi!

Yes, IF the NIC supports running in 1G mode (not all nic’s do) this should be sufficient unless the nic needs some special kernel parameters to go into 1G mode. this needs to be checked by the manufacturer documentation

does it mean most time,
people connect 10G spf+ port to server or switch’s 10G spf+ port mainly,
and most people will not connect them to 1G spf server or switch ?
