Are there any plans to build some of the paid functionality in? The main annoying one for me was always the config sync for instances in a cluster.

But may be more flexible? Not only cluster. Central configuration management for all routers?
One of the things that is being worked on , is a better configuration API.
Some new code will be available in the helium release.
Idea is to have more capabilities in the future for configuring a vyos router
