Help Needed: How to Restart FRR After Enabling SNMP for BGP Monitoring in VyOS 1.4.1

Hello community members,

I am currently using VyOS version 1.4.1, and I’ve noticed that Zabbix is not generating BGP monitoring alerts when a BGP neighbor goes down.

To address this, I plan to apply the following configuration:

#set system frr snmp bgpd

After applying this, I understand that I need to restart the FRR service, but I’m unsure of the correct way to do this on VyOS 1.4.1. Could anyone kindly guide me on how to restart FRR properly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Zawgyi

To be honest, I would just restart the router. The command restart bgp might be enough, but I’ve seen it fail in some cases. And in the end, by restarting BGP you will lose routing anyway.

Greets,

Sander
