My VyOS router is forwarding about 1M pkt/s, ~6-7 Gbps of traffic. I’ve noticed that my software interrupts are more frequent. The router is running on bare metal.
CPU: 2x Intel E5-2680 v4
NIC:2x Intel 82599ES SFP
Conntrack kernel module is loaded on the system, worth trying unloading the module.
