Latest version looking good!

Hi,

Yesterday I installed a new rolling image (1.3-rolling-202005231822) on my home router for the first time in a while. I was a little nervous because I’m never sure how stable/unstable the rolling releases will be - if I’m picking up a release in the middle of a big change or just after lots of bugs have been squashed.

But the upgrade went very smoothly and as far as I can tell, everything is working well. It is really great to see VyOS progressing and improving all the time!

Improvements that I have noticed and appreciated:

  • moving PPPoE interface to top level and not embedded in the Ethernet interface makes a lot of sense
  • similarly, really good having IPv6 route advertisements as a service (like DHCP), rather than a property of the interface
  • the new command definition files in XML are great - much easier to read and understand

Knowing which git repo to look in to find stuff and understanding the inner workings is still quite hard but definitely getting better.

Keep up the good work!

nick.
