Is there any documentation about the static nat feature? I cannot find anything about this, what it does exactly etc.

It does source NAT and destination NAT, but in one rule
In the documentation ( NAT44 — VyOS 1.5.x (circinus) documentation ) the 1-to-1 NAT is explained by configuring source and destination NAT manually, wouldn’t it be better to describe the static nat feature here?
