PAD0 delays are based on simple math, taking the current session count and the maximum session count into consideration
PADR Delay (ms)=10+((Current Sessions)/(Max Sessions) x Delay Factor)
Where:
10 = Fixed offset in milliseconds (ensures a minimum response delay)
Current Sessions = Number of active sessions on the BNG
Max Sessions = Configured maximum session capacity for the BNG
Delay Factor = Scaling factor that defines how much additional delay to introduce as load approaches maximum (e.g., 100-200ms for most setups)
If:
Concurrent Sessions = 6000
Max Sessions = 8000
Delay Factor = 100
Offset = 10
Then:
PADR Delay (ms)=10+(6000/8000 x 1000)
PADR Delay (ms)=10+(0.75 x 100)
PADR Delay (ms)=10+75=85ms
Would be an interesting option to delay PADOs based on actual BNG sessions where multiple BNGs are deployed to split load
