Proper storage location for custom scripts to survive updates

We have a number of scripts that run on our VyOS systems to handle features that VyOS doesn’t have (yet). For example, my netplugd bridge-bouncing script (Forum Post, Script) needs to be recreated every time we do a VyOS upgrade.
It would be nice to have a proper, official, safe place to store these scripts to they could survive updates. Additional plus if they can be in the config file so they are versioned, or if the config file can pull them from a git repository.

I believe this is what /config/scripts is for?

That’s where I keep my couple of scripts so they survive updates.
