Upgrading from 1.1.8 to 1.2

We are an educational institution and received access to the 1.2 LTS image - thank you for that.

My question is in regards to upgrading our existing 1.1.8 install. Given that 1.2 is running on Debian 8, does it require a new instance or does the existing upgrade strategy carry over (Update VyOS — VyOS 1.4.x (sagitta) documentation)?

typical upgrade path should work, but we always recommend to test configuration in vm before (just in case)
