Is using VPP as a Home Gateway possible at this time in 1.4 rolling? If not, is there a timeline to support it?

VPP support is still extremely experimental and undergoing development. In addition to that for just home use you should have no issues with any commodity hardware with a decent low end cpu and a couple gigs of ram without VPP. Side note i believe nat is still experimental within the VPP code base which could be difficult for 99.99% of home use cases.
