VyOS - Intel I350 T4v2 Question

#1

Fresh Install:

Dell R210II
VyOS v1.1.8

Version: VyOS 1.1.8
Description: VyOS 1.1.8 (helium)
Copyright: 2017 VyOS maintainers and contributors
Built by: maintainers@vyos.net
Built on: Sat Nov 11 13:44:36 UTC 2017
Build ID: 1711111344-b483efc
System type: x86 64-bit
Boot via: image
HW model: PowerEdge R210 II
HW S/N: C88CZV1
HW UUID: 44454C4C-3800-1038-8043-C3C04F5A5631
Uptime: 15:32:06 up 3:26, 1 user, load average: 0.15, 0.05, 0.06

The issue is this:

01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Device 1521 (rev 01) <<<<<<<<<<Not being detected properly?
01:00.1 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Device 1521 (rev 01)<<<<<<<<<<Not being detected properly?
01:00.2 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Device 1521 (rev 01)<<<<<<<<<<Not being detected properly?
01:00.3 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Device 1521 (rev 01)<<<<<<<<<<Not being detected properly?
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5716 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 20)
02:00.1 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5716 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 20)

So, having said that, I first realized there was an issue when:

Upon IP Assignment, I could ping the interface locally (Ping 192.168.1.1/30 from 192.168.1.1/30)
However, I could not ping “out” from that interface (ping 192.168.1.2/30 from 192.168.1.1/30)

Other box with fresh install exhibited this behavior, I just opted to move to the onboard broadcom nic’s for now, as they work normally.

Now, it’s a driver issue, I know that much, but I guess my question is, does VyOS 1.1.8 (helium) not have driver support for i350T4v2 Network Adapters? I find that rather odd, for the reason of, I bought these network adapters off of eBay. The seem to work just fine in my FreeBSD based firewall distros. Just curious, thanks!

Hello,
1.1.x series obsolete and we not going to update, in fact with 1.2 release it will become EOL
you may want to try 1.2 from here instead

#3

Thanks for the heads up, can you provide a date of production release of 1.2? Thanks!

#4

No ETAs
But we expect it somewhere end of November mid of December or so

I’ve been using those cards for several years, first on Vyatta and then Vyos through version 1.1.8. I’m using HP DL360s.
